Betting preview, tips and enhanced odds for the Scottish Cup final between Hearts and Celtic. Hearts and Celtic bring the curtain down on the domestic Scottish season when they battle it out for the Scottish Cup at Hampden Park this weekend. Plenty at stake for both clubs as Hearts go in search of their first win since the 2011/12 season, while Celtic look to become the first club in history to complete three consecutive domestic trebles. Form Labs return with their betting preview and tips for the game while we bring you the value with our selection of enhanced odds which can be found in our FanBoosts section. Celtic Winners Last Time Out. These two have only just faced off on the final day of the season, with Neil Lennon’s side running out narrow 2-1 winners at Celtic Park courtesy of a goal six minutes from time. However, both sides made plenty of changes to hand youth a run out, with Celtic implementing seven switches from the team that started against Rangers and brought on 16-year-old Karamoko Dembele at half-time, while Hearts had eight players in their line-up under the age of 22. Olly Lee Out. Craig Levein will probably be wishing he’d also rested Olly Lee after the midfielder twisted his knee to add his name to the treatment table, with the 27-year-old their key creative hub this term as his 12 assists across all competitions is more than double the amount of anyone else in Hearts’ squad. That’s a devastating blow to their attack, already diminished by the absence of star striker Steven Naismith. Indeed, the former Rangers and Everton man’s influence can’t be understated as since joining the club in January 2018, Hearts have won 55% of their 31 league games in which he’s started, compared with just 13% off the 23 he hasn’t. Meanwhile, they’ve lost just 26% with him and a whopping 70% without, as they’ve netted 55% fewer goals in his absence. Scottish Cup Final Betting Tips. Given Hearts have lost six of eight matches since the beginning of April, with their sole victory coming over Championship outfit Inverness in the semis, we’re not exactly confident of their chances up against serial winners. Celtic have kept a clean sheet in nine of 12 matches since the start of March, as well as in each of their last seven domestic knockout matches – including a 3-0 win over Hearts themselves in the League Cup semi-finals this term. With that in mind, the win to nil is highly appealing at evens, though as Celtic haven’t typically been running riot under Lennon, a small wager on a repeat 2-0 score from last years’ final over Motherwell appears in order. The circumstances around Sunday’s Scottish Cup final could hardly be any more peculiar. While the match will be played in the middle of the 2020/21 campaign, less than a week before Christmas, this is the conclusion to last season. For Celtic in particular, this crossover has generated a stark contrast of emotion. Celtic Park is not a happy place right now, quite literally. Supporters have taken to gathering outside the stadium in recent weeks to demand the dismissal of Neil Lennon as manager and the departure of a board blamed for the alleged managed decline of the club over the last few years. Results have been almost unfathomably poor for a team of Celtic’s stature. The Hoops have won their last two games, but that was preceded by a run of just two wins from 12 fixtures. For Celtic, this season was all about the pursuit of history - a record 10th league title in a row. That pursuit might already be over, with Steven Gerrard’s Rangers 13 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership. And yet if Celtic beat Hearts at Hampden Park on Sunday they will celebrate a historic 'Quadruple Treble', having won the league title and Betfred Cup in the 2019/20 season. Given all that has happened of late, the scenes if Lennon and his players end up with silverware in their hands this weekend will be fascinating. Will anyone feel like celebrating? And if they do, how will the disgruntled fanbase react? Circumstances are unique for Hearts too. The premature end to the 2019/20 season saw the Tynecastle side relegated to the Scottish Championship, so while they played the majority of their Scottish Cup campaign as a top-flight team they will play the final as a second tier outfit. To underline the absurdity of it all, Craig Gordon was a Celtic player when the 2019/20 Scottish Cup campaign started. On Saturday, he will play for Hearts. Celtic v Hearts: Scottish Cup final best bets. Both teams to score at 4/7 David Turnbull to score anytime at 7/5 Jamie Walker to score anytime at least 4/1. Recently, Celtic’s form has improved. Lennon has looked to youngsters like Conor Hazard, Ewan Henderson and most notably David Turnbull to give his side new life. However, the Celtic boss has spoken of staying loyal to the players who got the Hoops to the Scottish Cup final in the first place. Scott Brown, for instance, is expected to be back in the lineup. “It will [be a tough decision],” Lennon explained, revealing his internal debate ahead of the final. “But I think the players who’ve got us there, we’ll want to have a good look at that. There might be one or two of the new faces in there but I’d like to think the hardcore that got us there deserve an opportunity to play in it.” Turnbull is 7/5 to find the net at any time. The 21-year-old is on form, scoring one and assisting two in his last two games. If he starts, Turnbull is a good bet to add to his tally against Hearts. Mohamed Elyounoussi is another in good scoring form, with the Norwegian already in double figures for the season. Celtic’s centre forwards might be struggling, but their midfielders are picking up some of the slack. As they were expected to be, Hearts are sitting top of the Scottish Championship, although Robbie Neilson’s side haven’t had it all their own way. Talk of an unbeaten season quickly vanished as the Jam Tarts struggled through early fixtures. They will likely still win the title at a canter, but this is a team that has already lost games to Alloa Athletic and Dunfermline Athletic this term. In the likes of Liam Boyce, Steven Naismith and Jamie Walker, Hearts still boast experienced performers capable of causing Celtic problems. It was only two weeks ago that the Hoops lost at home to Ross County and drew against St Johnstone. Hearts’ squad is potentially stronger than either of those two. Celtic have kept just one clean sheet in their last nine outings and so 4/7 Both Teams To Score looks nailed on. The Hoops’ defence has struggled against players with pace this season. With this in mind, there is some value in Walker as Anytime Goalscorer at 4/1. If Lennon deploys a back three, as he has frequently this season, there will be space to exploit. On the basis of the two squads’ quality, Sunday’s final should be a foregone conclusion. But if squad quality alone decided titles and championships, Celtic would be top of the Scottish Premiership rather than 13 points adrift. Lennon and his players have a point to prove. Some silverware would at least silence some critics. Follow Sporting Life on social - find us on Facebook here or tweet @SportingLifeFC. Related football content. A period of transition for City? (Photo by Mark Runnacles/Getty Images) Can Heart of Midlothian end an incredibly turbulent 2020 by lifting their first major silverware since May 2012? Back in March, the Scottish Premiership season was curtailed as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic. This meant Heart of Midlothian were relegated from the top-flight on points per game despite the fact only 30 of the 38 matches had been played. So, Robbie Neilson was tasked with getting his beloved club back into the first division and, so far, they’re on track. Last Saturday, the Jambos hammered Queen of the South 6-1 at Tynecastle. This means they’ve won six of their seven Championship matches so far and are top of the table, four points above Dunfermline Athletic. In this competition, Hearts and Celtic actually met in the 2019 final, the most recent one to be played. Ryan Edwards gave the underdogs a shock lead the day before Odsonne Édouard’s brace secured a third consecutive Scottish Cup for Celtic. Earlier in 2020, Heart of Midlothian beat Rangers in a dramatic quarter-final in Gorgie, Oliver Bozanic with the only goal. That set up an Edinburgh derby semi-final which was belatedly played on Halloween. Craig Wighton put Hearts in front after an hour but Hibs’ equaliser shortly after forced extra time. The additional period was then a tale of two penalties. Hibernian hit the bar from the spot but, moments later, Liam Boyce made no mistake to fire Hearts into the final. In their history, Hearts have won 16 major honours but only three of those, all Scottish Cups, have been since 1663. Will Heart of Midlothian be celebrating in a final taking place 225 days later than scheduled? Will Celtic complete the quadruple treble? GLASGOW, SCOTLAND – AUGUST 26: Dedryck Boyata of Celtic celebrates with teammates after scoring his team’s first goal during the Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Hamilton at Celtic Park Stadium on August 26, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland. (Photo by Ian MacNicol/Getty Images) Celtic meanwhile are looking to complete a quadruple treble but are far from the all conquering side of recent seasons. Between 17 October and 6 November they won just two of 12 matches, those wins coming at Motherwell in the league and against Aberdeen in the semi-final of this competition. This saw them crash out of the UEFA Europa League group phase with just one point after five games. Their domestic stranglehold on silverware has also ended when Ross County dumped them out of the League Cup at the round of 16 stage. That ended their 35 match winning run in cup competitions. In the Premiership, they’re currently 13 points behind Rangers after defeat in the Old Firm and recent draws with Aberdeen, Hibernian and St Johnstone. Neil Lennon remains under serious pressure, particularly from fans, despite the fact his side come into this final having actually won back to back games. Ten days ago, Christopher Jullien, Callum McGregor and man of the moment David Turnbull scored in a 3-2 win over Lille, all be it a dead rubber. Then, last weekend, Mohamed Elyounoussi and Shane Duffy were on target in a 2-0 home victory over Kilmarnock. Nevertheless, the Celts’ form is going to have to drastically improve, and Rangers’ worsen, if they’re to catch the run away league leaders and win ten in a row. First though, will the champions be too strong for Hearts at Hampden? Hearts team news vs Celtic. GLASGOW, SCOTLAND – JANUARY 31: The Scottish flag is seen during the Scottish League Cup Semi-Final match between Dundee United and Aberdeen at Hampden Park on January 31, 2015 in Glasgow, Scotland. (Photo by Julian Finney/Getty Images) Robbie Neilson has virtually a full fit squad of players to choose from and it should be a squad brimming with confidence. Craig Gordon, who’s started every game this season, will continue in goal. He won 12 major honours whilst at Celtic but also lifted the Scottish Cup in 2006 as a Hearts player. At the back, John Souttar is a long-term absentee; he hasn’t played since rupturing his Achilles in the quarter-final win over Rangers in March. In his place, Christophe Berra and Craig Halkett have been the first-choice centre-backs although Mihai Popescu, who joined from Dinamo București in the summer, is a very decent alternative. At full-back, Michael Smith and Stephen Kingsley make up a solid back four. Ahead of them, former Rangers player and Rangers fan Andy Halliday could return alongside Olly Lee with Andy Irving missing out. He’d join Peter Haring on the bench; Loïc Damour is injured. Further forward, captain Steven Naismith, who hobbled off in a League Cup semi-final defeat to Celtic at Murrayfield in 2018, will hope to last longer in this one. He’ll be flanked by Aidy White and Jamie Walker with Elliott Frear and Josh Ginnelly left out. Semi-final match winner Liam Boyce will get the nod over the other scorer that day, Craig Wighton, up front. Can Hearts cause a huge upset? Celtic team news vs Hearts. GLASGOW, SCOTLAND – SEPTEMBER 02: Olivier Ntcham of Celtic celebrates after he scores during the Scottish Premier League between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park Stadium on September 2, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland. (Photo by Ian MacNicol/Getty Images) As for Celtic, Neil Lennon has some big decisions to make. His stalwarts were not performing for him so he made numerous changes against Lille and then Kilmarnock and his new look team won both of those matches. That’s the first time they’ve won back to back games since 4 October. Will Lennon revert back to his experienced players or trust those who’ve got him wins in the last ten days? One of these big calls is in goal. Neither new signing Vasilis Barkas nor Scott Bain have impressed this season so 22 year old Conor Hazard was given his senior debut against Lille. He has not done anything wrong in either that game nor the Kilmarnock match so should start this cup final. Whether he does or not is another matter. At the back, if Celtic revert to a back four Shane Duffy would probably make way with Christopher Jullien and Kristoffer Ajer starting together. Jeremie Frimpong will get the nod over Hatem Abd Elhamed on the right. On the left, Diego Laxalt, on loan from A.C. Milan, has been decent this season so could return in place of Greg Taylor who may feel hard done by. In midfield is where it’s really interesting. But, both have been excellent in the last two games however, captain Scott Brown is likely to return in place of the former, alongside Callum McGregor. This would be a huge stick to beat Lennon with if Hearts were to lift the trophy. Further forward, Turnbull has seemingly done enough to warrant a start with Ryan Christie on the right and Mohamed Elyounoussi on the left. James Forrest is injured and Olivier Ntcham is a doubt; Tom Rogic and fit again Mikey Johnston will be on the bench. Odsonne Édouard, who scored twice against Hearts in the 2019 final, will lead the line. Leigh Griffiths, Albian Ajeti and Patryk Klimala will all be in reserve. Will Celtic lift some of the doom and gloom by lifting yet another Scottish Cup?
